The Blacksmith Knife

Join instructor ERIC HEMPKER in this one day class, and learn how to craft a traditional “Blacksmith Knife”. This knife features a fully forged blade and handle. Participants will learn the fundamentals of forging, grinding, heat treating, and finishing while gaining hands-on experience with professional tools and techniques. Students will leave with their own finished knife and a solid foundation in the knife making process.

Eric Hempker

Eric Hemker is a full-time custom knifemaker and Forged in Fire champion based in Armada, Michigan. With a background in product design engineering and years of hands-on forging experience, Eric specializes in creating high-performance kitchen and outdoor knives while also teaching others the fundamentals of bladesmithing. Through his classes, he focuses on making traditional blacksmithing techniques approachable, safe, and rewarding for beginners.

  • We understand that sometimes circumstances change and you may need to cancel your attendance to one of our scheduled classes. However, please note that refunds are subject to the following policy:

    • If you cancel your attendance more than 30 days before the start of the class, you will receive a full refund of your registration fee.

    • If you cancel your attendance within 30 days of the start of the class, you will not be eligible for a refund.

    We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but please understand that our classes have limited availability and we need to ensure that all registered attendees are committed to attending.

    Class registration is non-transferable under any circumstances. The student in attendance must match the ID information of our class registration records.
